NNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
I liked him :C

Don't kill him. I made that mistake with Laurentius on my first playthrough. You need to farm up a ton of souls and go talk to that priest in the tower behind where you fought the Gargoyles. Request Absolution and it'll get rid of any aggro that NPCs have on you if you accidentally hit them or something.
Spoiler! :
Oh, and watch out for Darkmoons if you play online and in human form a lot. Now you're in their book of sin.

And if it's too late not to kill him, sorry. Just be glad you killed an NPC that there are still three more of, including the Boss Weapon forger. Unlike me who just so happened to kill the only person in the game you can get a Pyromancy Flame from on my first playthrough. ;___;

I see, I see! So that's what Absolution is for! I figured it had something to do with invading other sessions and being a PK.
Thanks for the answers/advice, yo! >;D
I didn't end up farming any souls or going back to see the Smith, so everything should be fine for now! Assuming he didn't just get so mad he offed himself. Anyhow, I ended up deciding I wanted to do some backtracking, so I went back across the Dragon Bridge and realized I could get into the lower streets with all the sick dogs and undead thieves. POISON, POISON EVERYWHERE.
I opened up/found a couple shortcuts here and there and after a few deaths, I managed to slay the Capra Demon! AWW YEAH!! Got the basement key and moved down into the cellars. The butcher was a PIECE OF CAKE, HAHAHAHA- oh wait, butchers don't bake things.
But he's dead either way and I fell into a sewer where I can clearly see a giant rat!! Like... GIANT GIANT!
My adventure continues soon <3

o u o
I recently started playing Dark Souls!
I went into pyromancy and I think I might be regretting it, though SpiralPen sure does love his firewhip.

. u .
But I just started, I'm not even past the Asylum Demon yet, so I'm unsure of how my play through is going to go. If I can even manage to get it running.

It's funny because I decided not to start as a Pyromancer and I regretted it up until recently!
Typically, though, it's really only helped me out in instances that required ranged battle... So a bow might be more your thing.

To each their own, but thankfully Dark Souls will pretty much let you neglect and improve whatever skills you so desire. Just because you started as a Pyromancer doesn't mean you can't become a beefed out dual Great Axe wielding barbarian. ;P

I was born to be a beef cake.

But seriously!
I really think I should have gone with thief or bandit like I was thinking, I forgot that I wasn't so hot on the whole magic scene. Or maybe I just regret not choosing the master key. I don't even remember what I did pick as a gift.
I probably will ending up farming souls to get a a bunch of arrows and stuff.
I would hate to be in Hydra land with no assistance.

I think the Master Key is one of those items that sounds too good to be true, so you don't take it.

...then you regret it later.

Arrows aren't very expensive, so no worries there! I can typically snag 999 of them anytime I happen upon the Smith or a shopkeep, and I don't do much soul grinding. Or at least, haven't for a while.
The only thing is, I have no idea when I got my bow. I was just rifling through my inventory and suddenly I had one.

On a side note, does anybody have any idea how cooperative online works in this game???
Because it's not me. :C

Keep in mind the class you choose at the beginning is just a template. You can change your stats and playstyle however you wish throughout the game, you're not limited to whatever you chose during character creation, haha.

You have to be human.
You need to either call another player from their sign on the ground or use an item to put your own sign on the ground so others can summon you.
You can also summon NPCs, who's signs are in preset areas. I would have never beaten Smournstein if I hadn't summoned Sunbro Solaire for the fight.

Honestly the co-op is a bit lame since it's level restricted and which player's signs you see is pretty much random. Don't ever expect to arrange co-op with specific players because it'll be hell just trying to meet up with them. Demon's PVP and co-op were both a bit better if you ask me, (though the latter for different reasons.)

But really, who needs to summon other players when you have Solaire?

Well, seeing as I spend a good 0.5% of the time Human, that information is unfortunately disappointing.
:C
What actually happens when a summon sign is touched, by the way?
Do you actually enter the other player's game, and vice versa, or does it summon an NPC-version of your character with the stats and weapons you possessed when you left the sign?

Also, please don't confirm or deny this, but the well in Firelink Shrine has become one of those things for me.
I am 99% certain that if I leap off the archway above it from the exact right angle and with the right trajectory, I can land right into that badboy. I have tried, come close, and failed several times, but I always have a bunch of souls I don't want to risk losing when I happen to be in the area, so I never try too hard.

When a sign is activated it summons the actual player into your game as a Phantom. Likewise putting down your sign and having someone activate it summons you into their game. I'm not sure if you have to sit in place and wait or can run off and do whatever until someone summons you, I've never tried.

Oh, and protip: If you stay in beef jerkey form for fear of being invaded, playing the game without logging into PSN will obviously keep people from invading you, which is useful if you ever want to summon NPCs.

Ahahahaha, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! I fear NO invaders. I just happen to die in really stupid ways all the time and lose my humanity.

Ah, well don't worry. You'll eventually reach a point where Humanity is in no short supply. Especially when you get that ring that causes enemies to drop items more often, then you can farm the hell out of those rats.

Alright, I got SUPER back into a Dark Souls kick the other night and decided to load up my NG+ with the intention of finally getting to meet Gwyndolin. I totally missed him on my first playthrough, despite having the Darkmoon Seance Ring.
I was incredibly surprised with how much easier the NG+ playthrough is, to be honest. I'm not sure if it's the better gear or just the complete and thorough know-how the first playthrough gives you. I made it from the Darkroot Hydra, Sif, and ALLLLL the way to Anal Rodeo in one sitting. I only played for maybe five or six hours.
Granted, I DID take some shortcuts and used summon signs more often, but I didn't die nearly HALF as much. I did the Darkroot Hydra on my first try, Quelaag on my third, and the Iron Golem in one pop. Also, the Gaping Dragon on my first go. Funnily enough, the Capra Demon still gave me the most trouble out of all the bosses I faced, haha.

Well.... not including Gwyndolin. I did make it to him and I did try to fight him and it was not pretty. He kicked my ass. Several times. I gave it up for the night.

I can't stress enough how excited I am for the DLC. I had forgotten how interesting the lore was and how absolutely invested in it I am. The possibilities surrounding the Furtive Pygmy and the Dark Soul, the mysteries of the Abyss, the reveal of Hawkeye Gough and Lord's Blade Ciaran in the DLC, the Giant's Skull in Ash Lake, and like...
just so much stuff. :Y
so much stuff

so many mysteries and so much crazy stuff

I bought Gwyn's robe from Domhnall this time, which I think is ungodly funny. It's REALLY cool. Also, I have another Quelaag Soul to turn into the Furysword this time around! And, I'm gonna use Sif's Soul to make the Cursed Greatsword just so I can give New Londo hell on this playthrough. That shit sucked.

SO DARK SOULS
DARK SOULS DARK SOULS <3

Yeah, NG+ is way easier, and now that I know to summon Solaire for the Smournstein fight the only thing I'm really scared of anymore is Lord Gwyn.

Well, that and Priscilla... The completionist in me wants her tail but I don't want to have to kill her ever agaaaaain. ;___;

I have the same problem. :|
I couldn't even bring myself to kill her the first time around what the hell am I gonna do.

I also don't want to kill Gwyndolin, he's my favorite and Anal Rodeo gets so depressing without him there to try and pretend like it's still a Godly Place.
