How did you find SmackJeeves in the first place?

I just googled Free WebComic Hosting over a year ago. This showed up.
Been using it for comics ever since.

Mentioned it in the preface to The L (below) incase you want to read me tell the story twice.

I had The L on a different site and was advised to add a "next" and "previous" button feature, as I did not have one at the time. I looked around for other comics that had such a feature so I could get ideas on how to do the code for such a feature when I found SJ. I looked around and decided it would be easier to join than to try to reverse engineer the code here, so that's what I did.

In October 2010 I was just coming up with the idea for "Double-body", but I was lacking an artist. I asked around the communities I was a part of on DeviantART before asking here. I guess it was about half a month before I started posting on the "General Discussion" forums, and I've been an active member of the forum community ever since.

I was looking through this really awesome artist's stuff sometime in December 2009 (I think it was Rannsama), and then it was like whoa hey, she has a webcomic! And it was hosted on smackjeeves, and then I decided to sign up for the site on a whim.

So I signed up in 2009 and then didn't post a single thing on the forum until 2011!

I was inspired to move my "Doodle Beans" from lined paper in my notebooks on to the internet. So I searched for a hosting site and now going on five years later, here I still am.

Oh god how I wish I could have this as my answer.

I met the user Kaz at tennis who was the author of a pretty popular sprite comic on SJ, and he got me into spriting. Eventually I wandered into the old SJ forums, made friends there and I've been around since then pretty much.

However when Kaz first told me about Smack Jeeves I'm pretty sure I was convinced it was a gay porn site.

I think my BF told me? That or I found it on a search. Either way, I decided this was the best site. I was looking or a good comic site with a nice community that would let me host an adult-ish comic (it's not porn, just violent).

i remember 3 years ago. when i saw some awesome artists in another forum link her comics to this website. i think 3 years ago this website was really full of yaoi webcomics back then......

either way i still stayed because of how easy to use and user friendly this website is
