To be fair, that is a CGI model of Tupac, which is considerably detailed compared to the holograms of Gorillaz and Miku. It was designed to look real, compared to the artistic styles of the fictional characters, and that idea of "Dead people as holograms" becomes a pretty revolutionary concept as a result.

Though the general idea of holograms isn't all that new or revolutionary in itself, with similar illusions taking place decades ago, and interest only appearing in it in recent years.
