Yeah, something like BlazBlue or Guilty Gear. I haven't watched too many, but I personally like

-Creating your own character
-A wide variety of body types--tall, short, buff, twiggy, male, female, some third gender, perhaps animal-like characters like Lizardman from Soul Calibur. I'm down with vampires and wizards and whatever else you can come up with.
-Bright colors and interesting costumes!
-All kinds of weapons. Swords, knives, guns, nunchuks, rings, fists, puppets, eagles, hamsters, you name it.

-Clearly ripping off existing characters
-Too much fanservice/the girls look like they're running around in their underwear (before anyone asks, this also applies to guys)
-Blood and gore (I know, they're fighting each other to the death, and a few wounds are fine, but no red waterfalls okay?)

Making your character the chosen one. There are a lot of people in this universe. You know what they say: You're unique and special, just like everybody else.
TIME: This really depends on the amount of people involved. You can really have anywhere from a few seconds to 15 seconds. Maybe more, especially for plot; we'll cross that bridge when we get there.
If you guys are comfortable posting character designs on this thread, that works for me. If not, shout out and I'll set something up. I'll start working on one (or a few) designs today and post it as soon as I can, just to be fair to you guys and show I'm involved in this too.
SOME OTHER RULES BEFOREHAND:
-Some of your character designs might be very similar. It would be kittens and sunshine if things worked themselves out naturally. If not, and one person posted the design much earlier, I'll favor them. Once again, we'll work that out when it happens, and there's nothing wrong with two somewhat similar characters.
-When you hand over your animation, I'll have you make some sort of official agreement that we can keep it, so a month later you can't turn around and say "ehh, my art wasn't so good" and take away a huge chunk of the video. However I will NOT ever take credit for anything I haven't done or sell it for profit without working out a way for EVERYONE INVOLVED to get a fair share. Which isn't super-likely.
