Cheap special effects with no story to get in the way (the flaming log was obviously CG, like real fire was too expensive or something). Some farm chick has to compete in some sort of celebrity death match with real trained killers and you better believe that she'll win even though in real life she'd die in the first few minutes, if not sooner. It's more Hollywood propaganda where little girls can somehow beat the crap out of trained killers several times their size like it was the Matrix or someshit. It's also the author's blatant fantasy delusions of power and perfection, where the kind of plain looking, Hollywood ugly chick can do anything.
All the scenery looks fake, like second trillogy Star Wars fake, not like the really good CG buildings in the Transformers movies. Costumes and makeup look stupid, like the whole Hollywood fake poor and fake dirty look like people in the future can't afford to sew the holes in their clothes and all wear knit sweaters and don't bother to wipe the dirt off their faces (like City of Ember which was nothing at all like the book - that's exactly what this movie looks like, in every detail, like the same people made it or something).
I was only ever wrong about two movies (Knowing, which was fantastic, and another one that I forget), so it's safe to say I'm making the right choice in missing this one.
Normally, I would agree with you. But you misunderstand quite a few things. For instance Katniss is trained. She kills pretty much all of her targets with a bow and arrow. She's been hunting with a bow to survive for years. I completely disagree with you on the scenery, which I thought was one of the strongest points of the movie. Also, a few of the clothing issues are justified. The district she's from is a ghetto. She started hunting illegally because their family couldn't make enough to survive.
