Keep trying. I feel like HS is one of those things where once someone actually gets the taste in their mouth they start to make time for it. When I first started it, I had planned to read a few pages a day.

I spent the next five days doing nothing but reading it. I even skipped school or two of them.

In a way, I think the worst aspects of the fandom only supply Hussie with funnier things to joke about and poke fun at.
So in typical mobius double reacharound fashion, the bad becomes good.

Although Hussie himself can be sort of disagreeable sometimes. As much as it irks me when I see people shipping ridiculous bullshit, I kind of felt his not-so-subtle jab at that crowd in John's dialogue with Jade was a bit uncalled for. Just because it's a big puzzle first and foremost to you as an author doesn't mean people aren't going to get invested in your characters. Half of reading a comic is how the reader experiences/processes the material you supply them with, not just your exact omnipotent and omniscient authoric intentions.

If anyone's having trouble convincing people to go through the hassle of reading all that dialogue and stuff, I'd just like to remind everyone (in case I already posted about this before, which I probably have) of CoLab, the voiceacting troupe I joined. We are currently in the middle of voice-acting ALL of Homestuck. A good portion of our fanbase is people who have never actually read it and are using us as a starting point. We just started the Midnight Crew Intermission so I think it's safe to say we won't be one of those fan-projects that just loses interest down the road. We're too far in to turn back now!

Here's episode 1. Yeah things start a tad shaky but we're getting a lot better! I voice Nannasprite and will EVENTUALLY be Equius, so don't hold your breath for copious amounts of Tooch. If it wasn't for the original head of production wanting to voice Dave I'd be voicing Dave. Not saying that with any contempt. He literally told me "Your Dave voice is better then mine, but I want to voice Dave." I later learned he's 15, so I guess that makes sense. I digress, there's a lot of cool people involved in this troupe.

We also recently got new members specifically to produce Sweet Bro & Hella Jeff and I'm handling Problem Sleuth, though the update schedule for that is terribly sporadic since I do it single-handedly in my spare time.

I took the entire John dialogue with a grain of salt at first because I shipped him HARDCORE with Vriska but then found it hilarious later after Roxy's dream self Doof'd him.

And KK <3 Terezi would be my OTP, but I took Karkat's self-talk about his feelings to mean that he's in human love with Terezi. Not just a <3 quadrant. A love that TRANSCENDS ALL QUADRANTS IF YOU WILL.

But it's mostly just silliness.
