It's a puzzle game you buy at full price. If you can't roll with it by that point, you're fucked.

For the first time since the new section was made I question whether something needs it's own thread. I don't want this to become a gateway drug of sorts for people trying to make a thread for every singular video game. Series and companies are one thing, but I don't want to see hundreds of threads about one game other than a few exceptions.

But then again I'm not interested in the game. Maybe the people that are can generate enough conversation to warrant it. *Shrug*

Essentially that's how game forums are usually populated: with a few general threads and the rest are based on a single game or concept. They tend to be popular for as long as the game is popular and don't really stick around all that long so I wouldn't worry to much about it.

As for this game itself, I've seen my friend play it today actually, it looks...well not my type. The puzzles are interesting enough but I've only seen him on chapter 3 and so far I don't like the story or the main character (especially his situation) and I don't really like the type of puzzles because they look like they get old quick. Essentially it's a timed block puzzle game, which puts the pressure on and everything but I'm more of a fan of the slower puzzle games whenever I actually play puzzle games because I tend to make a lot of mistakes when put under pressure and I don't feel as satisfied when I finish them.

But that's just me.

I'm going to request a mod convert this to an Atlus/SMT megathread, Catherine is very likely to a be a one-time IP so I don't think it deserves it's own thread with a game population of this (relatively small) size.

That said, I have the game but haven't gotten to play it yet, will do so this weekend.

This was by far my favorite Gamecube game.

Awesome music, too.

Also, this is something I have to do.

Funny story; I never realized Cubivore was even localized until now. Unless I knew and just forgot... I now want to find it.

I preordered this back in May, and got release day delivery from Amazon. My thoughts so far:
  • Don't play this game in front of your parents.
  • The dialogue is excellent. Only in this game will you find sheep with the lines, "News flash: FUCK YOU!"
  • The story is pretty intriguing so far. And the puzzle gameplay is really original.
  • This game is not for people with anxiety issues. Seriously, the boss (?) of the first level almost had me cursing at the screen. I used about six or seven retries.
Now for screenshots of the packaging, because I preordered the special "Love is Over" edition. The PS3 version has the other Catherine (the blonde one on the small side of the box) on the outside sleeve/the actual game cover. More under the spoiler.

Spoiler! :
When you slip up the cover, you find a pizza box from the Stray Sheep Co.
Image

The pizza box, fully removed from the sleeve. I like my pizza how I like my men: Hot, Ready, and Delicious.
Image

The pizza box, open.
Image

Items inside the pizza box. I forgot to take pictures of them, but you also get a nifty pair of boxer shorts that Vincent wears in the game (pictued in the box, on the right, in the picture above), as well as the soundtrack and an art book.

The pillowcase from above.

The t-shirt from above.

So far? It's really engaging, and pretty creepy! I'd recommend it to anyone who's looking for an interesting puzzle game, who doesn't mind/enjoys adult themes. I support this being an Atlus thread! Need somewhere to talk about Persona 5, when that ever happens.

I actually can't wait to play this game. I've been bugging quite a few people with my can't waitingness.

I want Catherine so badly, but I'll be damned if I'm going to buy a 360 or PS3 for it.
