It's not capable of running any
games, or just not demanding/Gen7 ones...?
Oh snap, guys! The Max Anarchy demo has ENGLISH LANGUAGE OPTIONS FOR EVERYTHING!
That means no fumbling around the Japanese menus forever trying to figure out what's what, this is incredible.
Wait wait wait, I wonder if this is a sign that the game won't be region locked? (Or maybe they confirmed that at some point and I was too dumb to notice.)
If so that gives me higher hopes for the community staying active. If it were US only I'd be worried, but if we can play against JP players the chances of a big/active community are much better.
Well uhh... Mixed feelings here. At face value the game is fantastic. Great style, great gameplay, great music and characters, blah blah blah, but there are some serious. Serious balance issues and general bullshittery in the multiplayer.
The singleplayer is better than I was expecting, but if I pay 60 bones for this game, I'm expecting some MP matches. The problem is A: Lag, which is disappointing. I was happy to find out on Gamefaqs that the game will be region free, but that happiness diminished when I noticed tons of lag with all the JP Players.
Problem B is how abuseable some mechanics are. A lot of people are bitching about Garuda's grapple and after facing a Garuda grapple spammer I can completely see why. This dude practically ruined the match by not only spamming his grapple, but spamming this spinning attack all characters have to get out of being beaten by multiple foes, though I believe he only did this at the end when the timer was almost up, since it takes a small piece of your health everytime you do it. Still frustrating, though.
All in all I want to love the game, (and 4-Player free for alls make it much easier to love than the TDMs. TDM = Gangrape only, which I guess you can call problem C. Especially since I know there won't be enough SJers getting this game for us to put together any private TDMs,) but I really, really hope it gets patched and rebalanced before releasing over here.
Oh, and the game could use a lobby/room list so we can at least manually select region-specific rooms. If they can't fix the lag I'd rather deal with a smaller online community in my own region than facing lagging JP players.
Okay, the more I play the more fun I have with this game, holy hell. So much awesome. The balance isn't really as big issue in this game as it seemed, I see now that it really all comes down to who you're playing with. It's only the spoiled-sports who show up and make things annoying with grapple spamming and whatnot. I'm even having a blast in TDMs now that I'm getting more used to everything. 'Course staying with your team helps a ton, but that should be common knowledge. All in all unless new annoying exploits pop up or more exploiters
start to ruin things I'd be pretty happy just getting it released the way it is. I guess it just took more getting used to than I originally thought. It's kinda like SDGO, the learning curve feels steep, but it's all just about adapting to the counters and situations.
Oh, and the random level events and items make it more of a blast to play in TDM. Free-for-alls are fun, but the stage is much smaller with less going on. It's more SSB-y, but that's definitely a good thing. It kinda helps the enjoyment in general if you approach it like a crazy party game instead of looking at it as some sort of super competitive fighting game or something.
