*EDIT*
If you want me to really go in-depth Secret of Mana, the aforementioned Tales games, Borderlands, (sort of... RPG/FPS hybrid, etc.) Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game if you count that (and if you do count it throw River City Ransom in the same boat,) Digimon World 4 is basically PSO with Digimon, Monster Hunter Tri's Arena mode supports split-screen, FFIX had a hidden little Player 2 option, and Dungeon Defenders might have local co-op, I can't really remember.

And that's all just local co-op. The list would be significantly bigger if you want online RPG co-op of the non-MMO variety. ;D

There's not enough talk of Prototype 2 in this thread.

...every draft of this post reads like a (very positive!) review, so I've scrapped it all. Let's just say I don't regret paying $80 for this game.

I've got one point of confusion: How did Alex go from being psycho-human-turned-humane-virus to
Spoiler! :
turn humanidty into a hivemind?
I guess it's not a huge leap, but my impression was that in P1 he was pretty disgusted with the whole situation, the infection included.

Also, dem one-liners.

It finally happened. I beat Kid Icarus. It's actually over.
BUT OH MY GOD I LOVED IT!!

Hades is officially my favorite Nintendo villain to ever emerge from anything. And that's a tough call. The game threw me for a loop about when it was ending TWICE and always kept pleasant surprises aroud every corner. I loved the bosses and never got tired of fighting them, even when they got recycled. I loved the dialogue through and through and the final level was fantastically fun.
My only complaint, and I mean only, is that there wasn't a bit more of Magnus and Ghaol. I thought for sure there's be some story with them after Ghaol's Castle. I guess I don't mind filling in the gaps with my imagination, but I was really hoping they'd both play a more prominent role.
Spoiler! :
Ghaol moreso than Magnus, obviously.

And speaking of those two, I think I have another post to make in another thread
*zips off to SSB/PSA thread*

I kinda figured that you'd find out later in the game he was either not the real Alex or there was some hidden/mistaken heroic motives going on... So he really did pull a Face Heel Turn? No explanation at all? Or have you yet to finish it?
Admittedly I didn't finish the first or become truly engrossed in the plot but I'm just as puzzled as most people.

Not sure, haven't used him much. My mains in Dimensions are Eliot, Zack and Jann Lee.
From what I've played of Dimensions though the game seems incredibly balanced compared to other fighters, with enough practice I'm sure you'd have no trouble getting good with whoever you want.

*EDIT*
So my little brother used to have this cool-looking PS2 game called Evergrace.
Image
It was a launch title in some regions and shows some fairly obvious age for a PS2 game, but regardless I always thought it looked neat when I saw him playing it and even made a file myself to mess around in one night while I was crashing with my Mom and siblings and was the only one awake. I thought "Fuck it, I'm bored. I think I'll try out that Evergrace game." I don't remember much about it but recently discovered it's by FROM-SOFTWARE.

I'm downloading it as we speak, although since I'm currently juggling Xenoblade, Dark Cloud 2 and recently Dark Souls, I won't play it for some time, but now that I know it's by From I'm gonna dive into this relic head-first one of these days.

Aww snap, they released a video showcasing all the sweet pre-order bonus content for Starhawk~
I love how they're willing to show all of it off and get me way more excited than a simple little image on Gamestop would, haha.

Man, I don't care if it's being released right after I start working, I'm so excited for this.

I've finished it and yep,
Spoiler! :
no explanation at all. The motivation revelation came at the end, right before the final fight. He wasn't exactly a Face to begin with, but his attitude towards humanity seemed so different in the first game. You can't blame a virus personified for wanting to infect everybody, but his motivation just doesn't seem like something P1's Mercer would come up with.

The only "clue" I've found is that his relationship with Dana, his sister, is very different. In P1, as a human he just used her as a spy but did not care for her. When he became Blacklight, he started caring for her and getting closer to her. But then in P2, Dana talks about how he's "not her brother anymore" and that he's different from how he was as a child, with no reference at all to the changes in their relationship in P1.

I'm still playing through the side missions and hoping for some more clues to that motivation, but I don't think there'll be anything there. I think the devs decided that needed to make Mercer a villain, continuity be damned. Can't say I agree with that decision, but they did end up making a very fun game.

A stand alone expansion for SR3, anyone?

Shit just got real.
A TES game looking this MMO-ish and lacking the traditional first-person view seems sketchy, but at the same time the artstyle is impressive. Reminds me more of Morrowind, Fable and KoA.
If the gameplay is more action-based and less clickituntilitdies and the game is free of any subscriptions this will definitely have my attention.

Oh, and speaking of having my attention...

Raging Ghost wrote:A stand alone expansion for SR3, anyone?

Odd. Not sure how to feel about it. On the one hand it sounds awesome, but on the other it's a stand-alone, meaning I probably can't take advantage of my progress/character in SR3 or earn anything for SR3 itself.

But seriously, which game should I go get first after buying Borderlands 2? Dead or Alive 5 or Tekken Tag Tournament 2?
