A dissapointment in what way exactly?

The only thing I saw was Tom doing a few lines in between Bleach and a game review. Aside from that, I saw nothing special. I guess it's only entertaining if you saw Toonami as a kid.

I mean, that's kind of all it was with the exception of special messages and things. It's just a matter of timing. Also, because they decided to keep in the shows' opening credits that leaves even LESS time for stuff between commercials. They can't exactly show LESS commercials, because commercials are what pay for television.

I suppose what they could do if they get big enough is schedule themselves so they'll have enough air time for one extra show, but then not HAVE that extra block, and use that spare 22 minutes for filler material between shows. But I dunno if that's practical, since it would really fuck up when the actual shows air.

But at the end of the day while Tom and the whole set-up was super cool, what REALLY made Toonami great was it was the only place you could go on TV to legitimately celebrate anime and other really cool animation in general. I guess when you can just go online and watch hours and hours of the stuff, legally or otherwise, it's less of a treat...

Actually on top of what Tezzle said that's pretty much exactly it. Even without classic shows the Toonami block is meant to be a loveletter to the Toonami Faithful that grew up watching TOM walk out and tell us which cool anime we'd be captivated by next while talking about some cool games every now and then.

I will admit that it's missing one thing, but I can't fault them for it since it only just begun; They need to make some killer promos like Broken Promise and Mad Rhetoric.

I must bump this with interesting news.
Toonami's timeslot is expanding, (later rather than earlier, unfortunately,) and they're adding more shows, starting with Sym-Bionic Titan and the new Thundercats.

Welp, they got Naruto back. I wonder where they're gonna fit it in the timeslot though.

And yet no return of the old guard. I had hoped they'd bring back some pre-2002 Toonami goodness before getting Naruto... Especially since one would think money is non-issue if they can get that juggernaut.

Honestly I'm still glad they brought Toonami back but I've been fairly disappointed with the majority of new additions. Samurai 7 bummed me out with it's early promises of love-triangle drama, I'm perfeclty happy never having to watch another drippy episode of Eureka 7 ever again, and I don't want to wade through their picks just to watch Sym-Bionic Titan and Thundercats once a week.
Spoiler! :
It's cool that they got a Tenchi show, though. I had just hoped they'd eventually stay true to the throwback that the April Fool's airing was. I want Gundam, Ronin Warriors, Rurouni Kenshin and Outlaw Star, dammit. :C
I mean I really shouldn't complain since it's a load off my mind not having to stay up every Saturday when I'm on a normal schedule, but still.
Then again it also means missing out on new TOM, game reviews and promos.

*EDIT*
ASBDFKAJDA I feel dirty ranting about Toonami. I MEAN NO OFFENSE, TOM, I STILL RESPECT YOU AND THE ABSOLUTION I'M JUST BEING A NOSTALGIAFAG.
