I mean, that's kind of all it was with the exception of special messages and things. It's just a matter of timing. Also, because they decided to keep in the shows' opening credits that leaves even LESS time for stuff between commercials. They can't exactly show LESS commercials, because commercials are what pay for television.
I suppose what they could do if they get big enough is schedule themselves so they'll have enough air time for one extra show, but then not HAVE that extra block, and use that spare 22 minutes for filler material between shows. But I dunno if that's practical, since it would really fuck up when the actual shows air.
But at the end of the day while Tom and the whole set-up was super cool, what REALLY made Toonami great was it was the only place you could go on TV to legitimately celebrate anime and other really cool animation in general. I guess when you can just go online and watch hours and hours of the stuff, legally or otherwise, it's less of a treat...
