Interestingly, though I was excited at the new chapter system, after trying it out I also realized that I actually liked my system better haha. Mine uses two drop-down boxes (one for the chapters, one for the pages), but when you change chapters it updates the page dropdown without taking you to a new page and you can have them ordered whichever way (oldest to newest or vice versa). I usually had my "all pages" list do newest to oldest, but all chapters are oldest to newest. I see the logic in still keeping it in a single drop-down box, but for some reason I still like my way better. I guess I'm being a stickler for resisting change haha.

Perhaps I can add that functionality to the new system - other people might be interested in that as well. Give me some time to tinker with it, and I'll hopefully have something working before I go back to school on the 19th.

I'm thinking there does need to be some options. Even if you want to keep it reading the same way for everyone, there's so many other little details.
I wonder what would happen if the drop-down box only listed chapters, and then when you click on one, it shows the pages for that chapter. But, I think I like it showing all the pages, with chapter headings, better.

I think it would be better with oldest at the bottom, and newest on the top. My bad......

So, if you're reading newer comics, you won't have to scroll all the way down to the bottom to get to the latest comics - the starting position will be whatever comic you're currently on. Does that improve the situation at all?

Oh. Ohhhhh.

Man, this made me realize that a scripting error was what had been preventing the drop-downs on my main site (http://smbhax.com) from having the selection automatically selected. So now I've fixed that and they do the automatic selection thing and my cumbersome workarounds are gone, yay! Aaaand yeah, once you can do that, listing them from oldest to newest seems like the more intuitive way to do it. So yeah, thumbs up, and I'm soooo glad you pointed this out to me because it really helped me tidy up the navigation on my main site.

Re: Falconer's dual-menu system, I haven't switched my comics over to the chapter thing because I didn't like losing the ability to skip to comics in previous chapters via the drop-down list. My main site has a dual-menu thingy similar to Falconer's, I think: the first drop-down selects chapters ("episodes"), and the second one selects specific comics in the current chapter; if you select a different chapter, it defaults to the first comic in that chapter.

Yeah, two drop-down boxes actually sounds pretty cool. Dunno if it would really be necessary, but I would use it.

I would prefer if we had the option, but if I had to say, I'd prefer newest on top.
