Personally I don't find UU cute at all. The giant influx of people calling her cute I'm sure 80% are only saying that because sympathy. She hates how she looks and no one has the heart to say they do too. I'm pretty sure if anyone who you have never seen before says they are ugly every person they say that to will say otherwise to make them feel better. Yes you can think she's cute but don't blame me if I bring up a "I told you so" comment when later you don't think so.

I'm not saying that it's wrong but fuck people act like it's a crime against nature to think UU is not "cute" or "visually attractive".

Personally I don't like her looks but she is a nice.....whatever the fuck she is.

Now to crush hopes:
If uu and UU are the same person she is most likely going to die because she, as well as uu, is LE.

I can see why you'd say that, but personally, I actually find skulls to be rather cute. They're one of my favorite things to draw, as evidenced by my art thread, and her design, when you look past the creepy Cal eyes and initial shock, is actually quite fetching! ;D
But then, I think the stark contrast between her looks and her personality is charming as well. Like Ghouls in the Fallout canon, there are some that I find to be cute who have absolutely no pity for themselves whatsoever, like Willow. I think any dangerous looking creature, when given a polite and kind demeanor gains some level of cuteness. I will not lie, UU's appearance made me JUMP when I saw it, as I admitted a couple posts ago, but that was more the initial shock. I had absolutely NO idea what to expect and her eyes. HER EYES ARE CAL EYES. Say we'd been led to believe Tavros was a human character for a long time, with hints he may be something more foreign. It would be unsettling if all of a sudden OH GOD HE'S A GRAY ALIEN WITH GIANT HORNS FUCK.

and yes, I firmly believe that UU is uu and that uu has SOME sort of correlation to Lord English.
The most active male class for a Hero of Time most likely being "Lord of Time", after all.

Also, I don't think her cuteness will change based on anything she does. I'm actually rather cautious of her character and I always have been. Even if she turns evil or does fucked up stuff, it doesn't change her on a design standpoint. So no, "I told you so's" for me, thank you! >;D

I think the reason a lot of the fanbase is give uu so much love is because they're using her as a poster-child for everyone with low self-esteem, especially young girls who think they're ugly. That's a legitimately HUGE problem due to society giving them impossible standards of beauty to meet. This is totally another case of vehement social-justice blogging, but for the most part I think in this case it's really sweet. She's aesthetically displeasing to me, and probably to a lot of other people who love her, but I know that's just my own opinion and that as sappy and stupid as this sounds she is beautiful. Because anyone as kind and as sweet as her is. So yeah that's why that's happening.

And anyone who suddenly "hates" a character just because they don't ship them with anyone is an idiot whose opinion you shouldn't factor in when judging a fanbase. Otherwise you'll never be a fan of anything, because every fanbase has those people. Same with people who attack others for disagreeing with them over stupid opinions. In fact, that's pretty much EVERYDAY LIFE too. So it's whatever. Don't let anybody keep you from liking something as rad as Homestuck.

I agree with all of that. I don't hate UU, I like her actually. She's a nice little skull creature.

I'm pretty sure Jane still has a fanbase just I think most of them liked her only for the Cotton Candy ship and now with Calliope They will probably drop her. Personally I think she just constantly gets the short end of the stick from the fans because she is too similar to Jade.(Which I have a whole other rant about that Regarding Jake too. I'm pretty sure if/when the Dirk/Jake ship sinks then Jake will probably end up like Jane.)

These are just my thoughts.

I don't think she's like Jade AT ALL. She's very much her own character. I think she just gets the short end of the stuck so much because it's kind of her personality. She's like a romcom protagonist or something, always flailing and awkward in love-life, never able to catch a break.

...I wonder if Karkat will like her? THAT'D BE HILARIOUS.

Ugh, I have to admit I switched OTPs but more because of the sweet conversation between her and Roxy than the big reveal.

And I still like Cotton Candy.
