Well shoot, I never posted here.
I'm Dan, 21 years old... joined last week.
I'm just getting the hang of how to work my comic and such.
I've been trying to draw comics since I was about 12, but I'd never finish them. Hoping to go somewhere lovely with this. :>

I'm Shan, I'm 27, and I was born in the UK. I moved to the US in 2005 when I got married.

I'm actually very new to comic books and mangas, both as a reader and as a writer/artist. I do remember a foray into making comic books sometime back in 1993-1994, when a friend and I got together to make and distribute a comic in our school. I remember it did well for the first issue, okay for the second, and stopped making us any money by the time we got to the fourth issue. We stopped selling after the fourth issue because the comic was no longer making enough money to pay for photocopying. They were short comics in black and white, only 10 pages each, and I remember very little about them, except for the process of hand folding and stapling them all.

My current comic project is still in early stages, with about four days of work behind it so far. It's going to be a military science fiction/low fantasy (no elves, orcs, or things of that nature, and no magic). I am having trouble categorizing my comic for style, as my natural style falls somewhere between Manga and Western. I'm currently developing characters, writing my first draft of the script, and rough drafting key scene page layouts, and I'm really enjoying the process. I'm working in no particular order, since I'd rather use the ideas while they're in my head, but so far I have about 10 pages roughed out, but lacking details like faces, as I'm still working on the turnarounds/ref sheets. At this point, I see this story playing out in three chapters (subject to changes I might make while writing), with an additional related series of shorter comics that I'll be telling in between chapters.
