Fairehmoon's Art Garden

Postby FairehMoon » October 29th, 2011, 5:35 pm

I decided to finally post some of my art! I love looking at everyone's art in these threads, it inspires me!

Also, I would love critque. I really wish people would do that!

Image
I took this picture with my phone, so it isn't very good quality. It's just an alien girl with blood on her. It's a bit old, but I love looking at it because of the splash of color on it!

Image
Another old one. It's a elf boy with my version of what a Brownie would looke like. The only thing I seem to like about this is the top part of the elf and the brownie. I find everything else not as good.

Image
This one is even older than the first two! I remember this one taking forever. It's a sonic fan character, not that I actually use any of my sonic FCs anymore.

Image
I had started drawing this one during the summer. I haven't finished it and I think I would like to do that. But I want to know if there's anything I should change! Also, this is Zelda related. It was part a fanfic idea I had that came from a dream. The guy on the left is Lance. Then there is Link in the middle, and on the right is a blind girl named Gabby. Long story short, Link was suppose to be the new Hero and help Lance get on the throne because Ganondorf was running Hyrule. The thing was, Link didn't believe in the old legends.

Okay, enough rambling from me.

A drawing I did based off a dream I had. I have some crazy dreams.

Image
One of my pony fan characters on one of my French papers. I love how it came out!

Image
Another pony. Gah, my phone camera can never make up its mind if it wants to be blurry or clear. Anyway, she's suppose to be for a fanfic me and a friend were writing. We didn't get far. Not sure if we'll continue it. I think I'll keep her though.

More aliens.

Your alien concept is really cute! :) And as you wished for a bit of critique-

The main thing that really irks me in all of these drawings is the area between the legs. You seem to draw it as a triangle, coming to a point where the legs meet.

If you look at the image below, you will see that there is a natural bit of space between the legs, caused by the pelvic bones. (Sorry it's a chick in a bathing suit.. best example I could find)

Hope this helps even a bit :)

Ah! Thanks for pointing that out! I do notice that sometimes but I keep forgetting to apply it to my drawings. Sometimes I try to draw it and it looks so weird...I'll keep trying though!

I did these drawings for an assignment in French class. Again, taken with my phone.

Another old drawing. I love it to death though! It has the lyrics of an english dub of the song Matryoshka.

Drawing I did in math. We were talking about how these math type things were like the Justice League of Geometry. So here's a superhero for you! Was messing around with shading stuff. Yeah...

David: Pencil
David: Inked
Drew this piece Friday during school. I think it was during study hall. I really forgot what I was trying to do here. I think I just wanted this character to have a new design. He looked...dumb, before. He also looked like another character I made sometime after him. So I drew this. He's waaayyyy to skinny though. And yes, his face is suppose to be like that. Long story. Just practice.

Courage
Link from Legend of Zelda. Of course, he's my version, so he's missing an eye. Anyway, I was hoping on making a series with him, Zelda, and Ganondorf, and sell them one day. Not today obviously because I have a long way to go. But this is not sitting right with me. I want to color it or something a certain way, but my mind is completely blank. I don't have photoshop or anything like that. All I have on my computer is Mangastudio(which I don't use very much) and mspaint. I do have pastels and colored pencils. Maybe I should do watercolor or something? I don't know! HELP!

Some Flying Girl Creature Thing
This one Sunday while I was grounded and looking at some awesome art. I was liking it a bit, but it's still not what I want. It was more for practice than anything. I like some parts of her and hate others. If I need to get a better picture of her, let me know. Her wings and tail are really light.

And that's it. I do have some pictures I wanted to post last post but I didn't want to post huge pictures. Guess I'll stick to links for those for now on. Please help me out guys!

Some Creatures
Drew this awhile ago. I could probably draw some of these creatures better now. Maybe. They still aren't my forte. I really like them though.

The World of Rainbows, Lollipops, and Unicorns
Um...I was really tired one day and started speaking gibberish about some magical land. My friend somehow ended up getting dragged in it and is the person in the picture. I colored it too lightly and did some lighting thing in photobucket. At least you can see everything pretty well thanks to it.

Image
The cat thing from the picture about. I love drawing him. I think because I love cats, and his ears are big, and I love how thick his legs are.

Love C+C!

Drawing Project
This was a picture I took awhile ago of a project I'm doing in my Drawing class. I'm shading it now. It's gonna look so pretty!

African Congo Unicorn
I drew two other types of Unicorns, but this one was the best out of all of them. It kinda looks like a rhino.

All My Creatures
I think these are all of the creatures I have made up on my own. Some of them are pretty weird looking, but I'm sure they would make sense in my own world.

Gesture Drawings?
Okay, I tried drawing gesture drawings of my sister dancing like a crazy monkey. I don't think I got the hang of it yet. I did learn something though! I learned a bit about how shoulders and hips move.

I'm really sad guys. I was carrying around a white folder with a page of a small comic I was doing and some of my favorite drawings I've drawn this year, and I lost it. *Sob* It has to be at school though. I know I had it in my 4th period class, but I didn't leave school with it. I check with my math teacher(4th period class) and he said he didn't find anything. Which means I have to ask my physics teacher tomorrow. SCIENCE TEACHERS SCARE ME GUYS.

I will get it back though! Till then, I do have some pictures.

Nurse Xue?
I have Pokemon fan characters. This is one of a pair of twins. I had drawn the other one a bit older, so I did the same with this one. I don't think I'm gonna finish it though.

Hands
I own a book that talks about drawing hands and feet, and it even shows muscles and skeletons of them both! I honestly don't know what I was trying to do though. Why are my fingers so messed up!?

Mermaid and Turtles
Yeah, I got bored. I just wanted an excuse to draw sea turtles. I also read a Little Mermaid related book.

Close up of Mermaid and Turtles

Sleeping on Kai's Shoulder
I just started this picture on Gimp, so it's gonna be fun learning/relearning Gimp. Any helpful advice?

Finished that picture before Christmas. I didn't like how the dude came out, but the girl...akldfnjioea SHE'S ADORABLE.

Image
Remember the unicorns and lollipops and rainbows one? I colored it in Gimp and got this picture. I think it's okay for the most part. It was mostly for coloring.

Image
Chibi Shadow Link. Don't know how I feel about this one.

Image
Bunny Link.

Coloring Gabby
Coloring an older pic with Gimp. I was working on this when New Years hit. So...yay? Still working on it. Although at the moment I've stopped to draw Aryll and Kukiel.

Watch out guys, lots of little pictures.

Image
I drew a picture of Aryll and Kukiel, both from the Legend of Zelda series! For those who don't know, Aryll is Link's little sister and is from Wind Waker. Kukiel is just a silly little girl that is from the newest game, Skyward Sword. They are both adorable and I love drawing adorable things.

Spoiler! :
Image
A pig I drew during Finals Week in December. I like how he came out.

Image
The pig colored.

Spoiler! :
Image
Concept art for a dragon design for a two page comic I'm working on. I was doing these concepts after/before I did the Flying Pig picture.

Image
This is the head I decided on for the final design.

Image
More concept art. Much closer to what I wanted. It's really close. I only did a few changes here and there.

Spoiler! :
Image
This is some creature that appears in the comic as a character's pet. Think of it as a cat/small dog.

Spoiler! :
Preview of the two pages.

Doodle of Link and my character, Lance, in a dress. Inspired by a blog on Tumblr.

Image
Birthday picture for my RP buddy! Can't wait to see if he likes it or not!

Image
This picture needs some serious critiquing. I'm open for anything you guys have to say. Just try to be helpful when you're critiquing. I've already had someone comment on my deviantart saying something that has nothing that can help me.

I might as well put up these doodles I've been doing. Some of them include me trying to draw some things I see or have learned a bit.

Spoiler! :
Image
This features some gazelle/deer legs based off of some pictures I've searched up one day during school. Okay, so not all of it is legs. I do have a mouth of a gazelle there and a concept doodle of a character. Okay, two concept arts. One is inked and the other one is horrible looking but I was thinking of a short stubby dog when I drew it.

Spoiler! :
Image
More messing around. And a Nerd eating Mushroom. It was my friend's idea, not mine! I think I've failed these sketches though.

Spoiler! :
Image
Got me trying out a man's chest there...randomly. No reference being it was in the middle of math class. And I got a bunch of noses in the corner there.

Spoiler! :
Image
I think it's a reference of a character. This is a really bad picture. XD I think it was just a way to get my ideas of him on paper.

So, yeah. I guess I'm slowly using references and drawing from what I see around me.

You do have some good work in there and it's easy to see that you like to spend some time to make sure that your works turn out good.
I think the best thing you can do now is using references to improve. Maybe use some places like posemaniacs.com and other ressource sites for artist (or use dA's stockpoto ressource). Personally I like to pick some photos (2-5) from there and just try to draw exactly what I see. Poses, humans, animals, landscapes, whatever you want to do.

I also like to do this: doodle a full a4 page a day. Just draw until you have no space left on that piece of paper. Continue doing so for a month straight. In the end you will easier see the progress of your work.

I hope that I could help you a little with that :)
