Suggestions & Feedback Posting Guidelines
The purpose of this board is to allow community members to suggest new features or changes to be added to Smack Jeeves. Even if you aren't sure of a specific solution, but you recognize the need for an improvement, point it out!

Before Posting
Please browse/search the forum to make sure your suggestion hasn't already been made by someone else. If you find an idea similar to yours, post your contributing thoughts to that thread. Don't start a new thread unless your idea is significantly different from existing suggestions.

Rules

    1) Use a descriptive title when making a suggestion or pointing out the need for improvement.

    2) Describe the problem / solution in detail. First, explain why there is a problem or a need for a new feature to begin with. Then, describe your proposed solution (if you have one) clearly and effectively.

    3) Respect others' ideas. If you disagree with someone else's ideas or suggestions, respectfully and factually state why. While debate over different solutions is fine, insults or personal attacks will not be tolerated.

Sticky System
Suggestions that have been approved and chosen for implementation by the development team will be stickied. When development begins on an idea, that topic will be moved to the New Features & Changes in Progress board.

More Robust Site Statistics

Postby eskayelle » May 16th, 2009, 10:53 am

Hello:

I was perusing my site statistics today and realized that the "Total Unique Visitors" and "Total Page Views" stats only follow the length of time corresponding to the graph (about one month). My hope was to be able to at least see a running total of page views since inception of the comic (around March 8th in my case).

Is there any way I'd be able to get a download of the March and April page views stats, or is this perhaps one of the perks of being a donator? I'm thinking other folks might be interested in tracking more than a month's worth of hits, so I'm assuming this question's been asked before.

FYI - the site I'm referring to is the D-Generation SeX comic (http://d-sex.smackjeeves.com).

Please advise. Feel free to pm me if necessary.

I think in general people do not want to know much more than how many hits a month they are getting, and so it feels like it would be a wasted effort. However, if you need more extensive stats you can use the counter I use which offers a vast list of features for free.

I didn't know you could see your stats on Smack Jeeves. Where do I find them?

When you go into "My Webcomics" and click manage on the main site it should be the first option there, it says "Site Stats and Traffic"
Snuffan and on a separate occasion, my dad wrote:"don´t be a girls who needs a man, be the girl a man need"

Oh, thanks. That's odd, though, because I've been using statcounter.com and the stats I'm getting from that site are very different from the ones Smack Jeeves is showing me now. My statcounter shows extreme spikes on certain days but my Smack Jeeves stats show relatively consistent traffic. So maybe statcounter.com isn't the best site for that.

I would wager it is because statcounter is set up differently in that it may define a Unique Visitor as an IP that returns 30 minutes later, but SJ might define it as an hour later. To be honest, I would be inclined to trust Statcounter more as it actually shows you who clicked on your site, where they linked from, what path they took through your site and so on.

I think this idea is a possibility for the future, but I'm not ready to sticky this yet until some other major features have been implemented.
